I’d recommend seeing if they have a nice lacy tank top number or outfit that goes by the small, medium, large sizing instead, so you won’t have to worry so much about bra sizing.
I’d also recommend going with another present for her that is more sentimental, since the lingerie set is really a gift that you’ll probably enjoy more than she will.
If you’re still set on the bra outfit, buy both, and keep the tags and receipt and return the one that doesn’t fit.

You could just take her with you to try one on, but then you choose it out. That way you won’t have to take it back and exchange it. I’m sure she will still appreciate the thought!

Well the C or D is the cup size. The 36 and 38 is like the length of the chest size. So the 36D is a larger cup size, but the 38C is a larger chest length. Personally I would go with the 38 C since it seems like more of a size issue than a cup size issue.
    Hope I helped.

if you don’t wanna take a chance then buy them both.

the difference here is in the size of her breasts and the size of her back. most women will only change the cup size when upgrading not the back size. meaning that if her breasts are about the same but her back is a bit larger. she would get the same cup size which is C. and get a longer back which is 38. if her back isn’t any thicker and its just her breasts that are bigger then you get a D for her breasts and the same for her back which is 36.

since you say that her breasts are hanging out then i guess i’d recommend to buy the 36D. although since she was a C. you should ask for a small D.

–if you didn’t know there are small D’s, medium D’s, and full D’s.– they’re is also some in between those but thats more complicated–

good luck and hope you find the right bra.
