river city mall on the river walk,is the closest to the Marriot, there are many other places, but the river center mall is pretty big, besides you get a chance to stroll down the river walk, there are so many places on the river walk including the hard rock cafe.. have fun !!! all Downtown!!!!
The Riverwalk is definitely the most popular shopping/eating/entertainment area in San Antonio.
Head over to http://www.resideo.com/us/texas/sanantonio/ and click the “Check Availability” button. Choose your dates, submit the form, then select “Riverwalk San Antonio” from the ‘Distance from’ dropdown — that’ll sort the results based on their closeness to the Riverwalk (closest ones first). It’ll show you how far away they are…
That way you can see what’s available, you can read about each hotel, view pics & then book online.
The Marriott is a good choice (190/nite), as is the Super 8 (93/nite) or the El Tropicano (150/nite).
Good luck & have fun!
We have Rivercenter Mall which is the only mall attached to a high rise Marriott Hotel, and it’s right on the Riverwalk
Other Malls:
-LaCantera beautiful mall with hotels very near, North West San Antonio
-Rolling Oaks Mall, with hotels about 2 miles away off I-35, North East San Antonio
-North Star Mall, with hotels within walking distance, North San Antonio
-The Forum, with hotels within a mile, off I-35 and 1604, NE San Antonio
Stay Away from:
-Ingram Park Mall, gang infested, it has old cheap, run-down motels near by. By the way, the inn right by the mall has a history, about 2 years ago someone was murdered in one of the rooms
-Crossroad Mall, doens’t have much shopping, a lot of closed down businesses
-Southern Park Mall, gang infested, bad part of town, junky stores, no hotels near by, about 3 years ago there were 2 incidents where police found a dead person in a vehicle, this was very near by.
Yes, the Riverwalk is right in the middle of downtown.
Have Fun!
You should go to San Marcos to the Tanger Outlet Mall. They have incredible deals there on stuff from Journeys and Old Navy and the like. Across the stree there is another Outlet Mall with upscale discount stores like Chicos and Sax. It’s not far from San Antonio and there is a hotel across the highway near whataburger. If you drive a little further you will be downtown San Marcos where there is Texas State University. They have a lot of little nightclubs where the college kids hang.
The river walk is in down town San Antonio. I am a little bit surprised that the only place that my fellow San Antonians seem to know about is the River Walk Mall, Frankly this is just a lot of eye candy and if you don’t mind paying more it is a great place to go but on the other hand if you are coming to do the annual thing like buying clothing for children to go back to school in, that is something different. I raised three children and if I had to buy clothing for them still it wouldn’t be at the River Walk Mall. I would go to Ingram Square and next door Ingram Park. These are on the North west side on I-410 There is a Stafford Inn right across the Hwy form them. From there to down town it is about 15 minutes. I will point out that there are several other large malls up and down I-410. So the choice is up to you, you can do the tourist thing and head to the River Walk mall or you can do what most of us really do and that is go where we are going to do the most with our money. What ever you decide have a good time here and come on back.
