The beach is free and all the natural enviroment are free of charge.
i have been many times to perhentian island, there are 2 islands there, the big island and the small island, on the small island is where most back packers go. you can get a chalet/hut there with a fan from about RM50 a night and there are many choices of small resorts to choose from. you travel from KL by bus to kuala besut RM 40 8 hours, the a fast boat ride to the chosen island RM70 return, the beaches a white sand, and its famous for diving and snorkeling. i just returned from there 3 weeks ago and i stayed on the big island
mataking island?look ,u can choose from sabah too
I just came back from Sabah. We went snorkelling at Mamutik Island, absolutely beautiful. It is small but the experience is worth it. I work at http://www.fp.utm.my this is a great getaway for me. White beach, clear water, lots of different kinds of fish like you see on “Finding Nemo”. It is actually a part of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park with many other islands. There are lodges at the Manukan Island if you want to stay in the island. The entrance fee for all the islands is only RM3.00 for a Malaysian to all the islands in 1 day. The boat from Jesselton Point is not that expensive too. We get cheaper rate for a big group of people. We only pay about RM440.00 for a boat (return) for 8 adults to two islands in 1 day, inclusive of the rent of a life jacket each and a snorkelling set each (RM10 each item for each person) and the entrance fees.
You can stay in the city centre (I recommend Eden Hotel – on promotion at the moment – a double room is RM79.00 per night and is in the heart of the city centre). You can just walk to Jesselton Point to go to the island.
