   Try Hotel 88 and Fragrance Hotel. Both are budget hotels but their hotel environment is relatively good.

   Try portals such as wotif.com, ratestogo.com.

   I find their rates to be reasonable although you have to do you own comparisons and research. Oh, and the confirmation is instant, no need to wait 24 hours wondering if you have a room or not.

   Calling the hotel direct is usually more expensive (almost anywhere in the world) its best to contact your local travel agent for the discounted price. Trust me on this. I was a travel agent. The rates u get from hotels are rack rates, while the rates from travel agents are corporate rate, usually up to 40% cheaper. U may want to try asiarooms too. but go to your travel agent first.

   If you want a budget hotel, try Royal India hotel..location wise is ok, but the rooms…you better check it online if you are ok with small rooms and very basic needs.

   Try Royal Hotel along Newton Road. about 100Sing dollar per night. nice hotel or Gallery hotel at mohamad sultan road.

   a good place to start would be to do a price comparison on travel search portals, such as hotelcombine. They search several travel sites to throw up the best prices.
