I’ve already talked to a couple of hotels in the area and they’ve said it’s okay to do this – as long as one of us is at least 18 (which we aren’t, but I have a fake ID!)
Basically, my dad would be putting the room costs on his credit card. We tell the hotel I am of age but have no credit card. My dad fills out some 3rd party form saying it’s okay to use his credit card without him there, yadda yadda. We arrive at the hotel by ourselves and they ask for an ID from one of us to see that someone is at least 18 (the hotel is in Tremblant, Quebec). I have a fake ID from Regina, Saskatchewan that says I’m going to be 21 in March. I’m pretty sure it scans. It is the actual ID from Saskatchewan (I know because it has been compared to another real ID).
I’m just wondering if they might think it is sketchy because my dad is from Ottawa, Ontario, and I’m supposedly not. How strict are hotels in Tremblant (or just hotels in general) – compared to clubs, bars and whatnot – for IDing?
I don’t think they’ll be too strict on you. It’s only policy. The worst that could happen is they call your parents to come and pick you up. You’ll not be arrested for it! Plus, that’s no where near as bad as drinking underage.
The “be 18″ is not really a problem. I’ve been in hotel before majority and I never was ask to show an ID. It’s just a standard, but as long as you pay it’s not a problem. I suggest you book online with your father’s credit card and then you call to explain that you don’t have one even though you’re 18 and that you won’t be able to actually bring it to Tremblant (because they would ask it, and I really don’t think that the “3rd party form” you’r referring to is accepted). From there, just talk with them and find a solution.
I’m from Quebec and if you don,t have a ”baby face” and don’t start some f*cking mess around the hotel/bar we don’t bother with ID’s ..we are more liberal than you guys on sex and alchool
ps; If your face is on the ID and it looks legit it should be okay anyway… we ”Card” people because our boss told us so and we don’t want to get in trouble (with laws and boss) but as individuals we don’t really mind selling you alchool if your 16-17….
