I’m flying in sort of in the afternoon and staying at a hotel near the airport. I realise there may be shops and food places in the airport, but is there anything nearby where I can go for a couple of hours?
Also, how long would it take to get to Paris city centre? It doesn’t take that long does it?
Third question, what time does retail shops close on a weekday in Paris?

There is nothing interesting near CDG airport.
If you wish to go Paris, you will need 1 hour transportation each way.
Retail shops are open until 7 PM at least, in general until 8 PM
The way into Paris from charles de gaulle is actually quite far… I might event count more than an hour if you are new to the city.. buying the tickets at the station in the airport always takes forever…
The stores usually clsoe around 7pm or 8pm depending where you are.
The CDG airport is huge and is really in the middle of nowhere.. just getting to your hotel (depending where it is) with the hotel shuttle coould take a little while.. mostly waiting around though
