Hi,
Following my previous questions, I’m a British National and hence eligible for eVisa.
Since my stay in Bahrain is going to be only 3.5 hrs (I have a connecting flight to catch)….
1. How far is gold souk near Delmon Hotel from the airport. (time taken to travel there)
2. How can I get there (taxi?)
3. What would the taxi charge be like?
4. Is it advisable to get the eVisa, go to gold souk, buy gold and catch the connecting flight ??? Will that be too tight scheduled ?
Regards
KA
The Gold Souk you mean is called Gold City. It is opposite the Delmon hotel. Once you have left the airport it is about half an hour to Gold City. Traffic can be bad in Bahrain so you must allow for that. There is a duty free gold shop in Bahrain airport you could try.
Do not pay more than 2 – 3 dinar to go anywhere in bahrain…Even 3 is a little much, but they want the money. Sit in the back seat, not the front. I was groped by a taxi driver!!!
How can I get there (taxi
If you’re going to get a taxi, I would recommend calling Speedy Taxi’s (they use a meter and it is v reasonable/respected taxi company here in Bahrain) number is +973 17682999. You can only pre-book though, they aren’t available to flag down. Good luck and have fun
)
1. It is around 20-30 minutes away from the airport.
2. Get a taxi from the airport.
3. Around BD5. But the return will be cheaper because taxis from airport are more expensive.
4. It all depends on the time that you will arrive to Bahrain. 3.5 is okay but if it is a time of peak 5-8 pm then you might be a bit nervous because the gold souk is in the middle of traffic !!!!!
For a British National, you shouldnt have a problem going outta the airport. It is worth it to go to the gold souk or ask them for “Gold CIty” it is also opposite to the City Centre Hotel, just tell the taxi to take you to government avenue where Standard Charterd bank is. it is in the same road.
hi there again
for 3.5 hours its very risky you might get stuck in traffic or when you reach the souk that’s going to take time choosing your Selection and then you might mis your flight but if you can stay the day or catch a latter flight than try it.
to get there pls use our(your)london taxis they have there meters on all the time plus its fun it takes less than 15min but the traffic is bad
