They get treated like a swimming pool and additives will change the Ph of the water. They don't get drained after each use like a bathtub so whatever you add stays in there for a long time. It's a Whirlpool! It bubbles it up like crazy! And NO to any type of oil's. It clogs up the jets and that's no good. Plus ya know how many germs and Bactria's are in those community hot tubs-whirlpools! I wouldn't go in one if you paid me! I know they sound like fun and they are but think about it!
