Im not engaged or even close, but my dream has been to spend two weeks touring Italy with my future sig. other, for the honeymoon. The airfare I already have figured between 7k-8k (I will want to fly first class). Here is an idea of what I want the trip to consist of to help you judge cost. We will not be staying in Rome or Venice or other giant cities for more than 1 or 2 days. I am more interested in spending our time traveling along the coast visiting small villages such as the ones in Cinque Terre. I also would like to spend a large amount of time in the wine regions visiting and staying at different vineyards where possible. Though out of the major tourist cities, I do not want to skimp on spending, hotels we stay should be romantic and classy, fun activities (tours, wine tastings and elegant meals), shopping and souvenirs. What I am looking for is a general idea for a daily budget hotel included. And also suggestions of places where you may have been and really enjoyed, to visit and stay along the trip! I look forward to hearing about your experiences! Thank you.
I’m assuming you don’t have much qualms about spending, which means spending and living the high life in Italy is endless. I would say you probably want to bring 10k for the two weeks. Depending on where you stay, most 4-5 stars hotels will cost you about 150-200 euros a night. Take into account the exquisite level of spending and touring you will do. I would say you can easily spend about 700 euros a day. Beautiful cities that I absolutely loved was Naples, Capri, Sorrento, Venice, Rome, Pompeii etc. Depending on how you intend on traveling Florence and Pisa are also stunning.
Obviously you have to see the world renown touristy spots. However, I strongly recommend Naples, Capri, Sorrento and Pompeii for some spectacular views of the Mediterranean. I believe in Sorrento they also have a limoncello tour, where you can see how they make their famous lemon liquor. I believe there is also a fresh mozzarella tour that you can add with the limoncello tour – which is divine!! It is just as fun as wine tasting.
In Pompeii, you can see the Volcano Mt. Vesuvius where the volcano erupted and covered a whole city. That city has literally been brought back to life, and reemerges as one of the most fascinating ruins that is open to the public.
There is also a wonderful Carnelian tour in Naples, which is a reddish brown semiprecious stone that Italians are known for with their jewelry. Likewise you will find a lot of beautiful Italian Murano glass in Venice – also used for jewelry.
There were some of the unique moments I enjoyed during my adventures in Italy.
You must go to Capri, it’s absolutely breathtaking. Have fun!!
