Hello, I’ll be travelling around America for a couple of months with my two sisters. I was wondering if there are any points of interest that you could tell me that are worth seeing (besides the obvious, grand canyon etc.) Things that a tourist wouldn’t necessarily see?
Also if you know of any cheap hotels that I could stay at while I’m out there. I’ll be visiting:
Seattle
san Francisco
los Angeles
san diago
las vegas
phoenix
detroit
chicago
philadelphia
boston
new york
washington D.C
Also any tips in general you could give me would be great. Thank you very much.
while in New York, make sure you take the buses (NOT public transportation, the ones offered to tourists). These buses show you everything in NYC and are reasonably priced. If you don’t have much time, take the bus and you can see it all! Plus you get to watch how “real new yorkers” live. Something different than the average tourist!
In Vegas, go out to Red Rock Canyon. Also, be sure to walk through all of the casinos (even if you’re not 21!). They are so cool and unique! If you can only choose 1 place to eat in Vegas, make it the Carnival World Buffet at the Rio. You get a little bit of everything!
Boston: Be sure to get a 7-day T pass (includes the subway and buses), even if you’re going to be there for fewer than seven days. The 7-day pass costs about $15, while the one-day pass costs about $9, so the 7 day pass is cheaper than 2 day passes!
If you’ll be in Boston in the fall or spring, walk along the Charles River (esplanade). It’s beautiful and you’ll see all types of Bostonians enjoying life on a sunny day. (It’s unusual to see that many of us all in a good mood!) Also, walk around Harvard Square. See the college, of course, but also check out some of the other things in the area, like the coffee shops. Crema Cafe is a good one and it’s located near the T stop so it’s easy to find.
Just be sure to walk as many places as possible. Boston is a walking city, and you’ll get a much more authentic experience if you walk.
how long are you staying? going from san fran to nyc takes 6 hours on a plane, not including luggage and all the annoying crap.
in ny, go to radio city if its before or during december. but overall, it is not that great (i live near the city).
washington, go to EVERYTHING. it is the best city to me and i have been to A LOT. they got the national spy museum and the space museum. they have pretty much everything.
phily is just trash (no offense).
chicago is only noice in the summer because its cold as a biotch any time else.
if you are going to all these places, go to dallas. that is a nice city. plus, if you go to houston, which is a 1 day drive, youu can go to the space center which is home to one of the most famous astronaut sayings ever.
plus, go to places in towns and cities that are places that only natives go to, like festivals, parades and other fun things.
the rest i dont really feel like telling you about or havent been to, which is only a few places like the cali cities (sorry if i sound like a jerk though).
