for how long you will stay in manila? im travel agent in the philippines. i will try to find a hotel based on your budget. if you are interested, please coordinate with me thru my email at lindalta@yahoo.com. so far the cheapest is P1,400/nt but will try to look for based on your budget.
You will not find a Pensionne house in Manilla for less than P 1,000 a night with aircon. Just forget it ! The cheapest place is Philbills at 1,600 per night and it’s near the airport.
Go to the cheaper places and get mugged by the locals. Keep yur backpacking ass home and safe. Near Makati or mALATE ? kEEP dreaming. Not for that price !
If you’re a foreigner in Manila, do not stay in cheap hotels. They always expect foreigner to have money. You could be an easy target. Leave cheap hotels for the locals.
jeepneyd2003 is right! goodluck if u can find any.. or maybe stay in motels, much cheaper! haha! and with free bedbugs and others insects! haha!
Lots of misinformation here. In Ermita and close to Robinson mall, there are places where you can find for less than 1000P. I was last there in 2003, but I doubt if prices have risen so much….shop around and make an offer. Go to the L.A. Cafe on Mabini Street and meet some foreigners and ask them.
Have fun.

cbmaclean, yes lodging prices HAVE risen that much. It is not worth the risk to save 500-2000 PHP per night only to get mugged 10000 PHP the next night because you were a foreigner in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Digoseno is right! And if you will come here for a holiday vacation, well, I am sure, the hotels are all fully booked. If you want I will try to contact the University of the Philippines Hotel or the Balay Kalinaw International if there are vacancies. Stay in the UP Campus hotel is safer, too.
Let me know and I will try to arrange for you here. Just the same, have a nice trip to our country. ENJOY! But do take care.
