If you’re looking for a hotel near the T (as it’s called), you’ll probably find something much cheaper outside of the actual city of Boston. Then you can just take the T into town. Check out http://www.mbta.com/schedules_and_maps/subway/ for an interactive map and info on specific spots. Try something off of the Green or Orange lines.

And yes, the T does go to the airport. It’s the “Airport” stop on the Blue line. I believe the new silver line goes there too.

The term “cheap hotel” for Boston is an oxymoron.
Try the Milner (Charles Street, near South Cove subway station), The Shawmut Inn (2 minute walk to North Station) and the Buckminster (right at Kenmore station). The first two are Orange Line stations, the line you will take to the brewery (Stony Brook station). There is also a motel on Boston Street a 5 minute walk from Andrew subway station but I forget its name.

    Also, check our B&Bs.

geezerbi… has it right about subway access to the airport. The Silver Line subway is a glorified trolley bus, not a train.

Public transportation can take you to the airport. If you stay downtown it may be hard to find a cheap hotel. Maybe try the Hampton Inn in Cambridge. It’s about a 10-15 minute train ride outside the city, but you can save a lot of money per night. Also it’s really nice, and clean, but directly across the street from the Green line stop Lechmere. There are other places too, similar to this, where you can save money. Depending when you are going, maybe you can find a last minute deal somewhere cheap, and directly downtown.
