Take a ride on the “Blue Ridge Parkway” and stop at the lookouts and take pictures. Visit the road side mountain shops. Depending on the time of year, you could go White Water Rafting. There are too many hotels to name, but if you really want nice, choose a cabin or cottage.

They have great canoeing there, or tubing if you prefer. A great hotel to visit (not stay in-very pricey) is The Grove Park Inn And Spa. They always have a seasonal activity there that is open to the public. There is a very nice Ramada Inn in Asheville. Friendly people, clean rooms and great indoor and outdoor pool. The rates are reasonable. Have a fun trip!
There is the Orange Peel which is great for a live show. Shopping downtown, catch a great flick at the fine arts theatre. Drink at Magnolias.. Spa and or golfing at Grove Park. Balloon Ride out in Candler.. Antique shopping in Hendersonville or Black Mountain.
Have a wonderful trip.. Asheville is made for adults. Also, see if you are coming during one of the many live concerts.. Shidig on the Green, Downtown after 5, Bele Chere.
The Smokey Mountains are beautiful! Lots of little waterfalls too, you can easily spend a day or 2 just wandering….
OK Here’s what you do. All of these other answers are good but you will not get the real experience of Asheville and this is coming from someone who has lived here most of her life.
Go to downtown Asheville and pick up a mountain express (it is a free local new paper) Then go to the five Points Dinner (anyone can tell you where it is) and have breakfast. You will see all kinds of people there. Look at your mountain express and decide what you want to do that night, music, shopping, art galleries, and a wonderful independent movie theater. Once you finish with breakfast go to Lexington Ave. and get a coffee at Izzy’s (some of the best Coffee in town) then have a look around. You want to go to Rosetta’s for lunch which is at the bottom of that road. Do walk all over downtown Asheville you really never now what or who you might see. OK I know you will be tired so relax in Prichard park and take a deep breath. Now for dinner, this all depends on what you like and how much you want to send. So ask the locals. Everyone is really friendly here.I hope you will enjoy your stay here and who knows maybe I will see you. Good Luck
